IOU

Many apologies for my somewhat stagnant blog. The pace shall be picked up. Here are some favorites of the ones I've taken thus far. This is my summer. Eat up.

JUDAS JUDA-A-A, JUDAS GAGA.

Well, at first I found this song to be extremely offensive, but I've changed my mind. I'm pretty sure she's just using the story of Judas betraying Jesus as a visual, and an attention getter, because we all know that's what GaGa's all about. She still gives me the creeps, but that doesn't mean she isn't a fantastic producer. Musically, the girl knows what she's doing.

Also, I'm just going to come out and say that i love the implants on her face and shoulders.

This song is going to cause some serious controversy.

Thoughts?

THE PLAN.

I am so excited. I've been in a the biggest rut with my art for the past year and i think i'm finally coming out of it. I realized that my work has been about the product for too long. So, i decided to find a way to really make it about the process. I wanted to find a way to be impulsive, and lack any care of what comes from it. I wanted to be completely immersed in my medium.

SO.

Last night i danced a painting. I taped down to large sheets of paper, put on some OH LAND, and made some moves. I moved across the surface with tubes of paint in my hand, and watched the liquid color fall from my fingers to the surface, but in a different way that it ever has before. The original intention was to just pull the paint around with my feet. Of course, i couldn't control myself. By the end I was practically rolling in it. I even began impulsively smashing my pastels with a hammer, watching pigment explode. It felt like I finally opened the door to something. I had forgotten the sheer enjoyment of making art.

The actual product isn't anything that I'm attached to. But the feeling of that paint, that's where i need to go.
I have a vision. A plan.

I am going to cover the entire floor of the studio with paper. Tape it down. Shut the doors, shut the windows, and lock myself in there. I want to be completely exposed in front of my surface. I want to be completely honest with it. I want to eliminate all fear. I want my body to be the brush. To literally roll in paint. To physically be completely consumed by it. I will have to be completely naked, and completely alone, so that i have nothing to hide. I'm not sure what is going to come of this, but what I do know, is that I will be listening to Radiohead the entire time.

Anticipation.

ALSO, thank you Emily, Jackie, and Adam for dancing with me. You all have lovely feet.

No Shame.

Trashy, TRASHY, eye-makeup. Not for an every day display. Not for special occasions. Not for the enjoyment of anyone else. Just for me. Just for the application, and for the documentation.

And for how repulsively attractive i find it to be.

I'm into this right now.

NEW IMOGEN.

Imogen Heap announced in January 2011 that she had plans to create a crowd-sourced song by asking fans to upload music or sound clips which she would then piece together with lyrics she had written based on ideas or words submitted by fans. The song would be released two weeks later and would also source images for the cover art and the pages within and video clips to be used within the music video for the song. Heap used Ustream to live blog everyday during the process of making the song to check in with her fans. Her niece's heartbeat was also incorporated into the song as she was born around the time the project began. The song was eventually titled "Lifeline".

So here it is.

The concept for the upcoming record is to record one track over a period of several weeks every 3 months over the course of roughly three years. Each song will be released immediately.

The genius woman strikes again.

You're not allowed to dislike someone this brilliant.

you're killing me sam.

I am having the HARDEST time with these. I've made a vow to cut back on my shoe intake, and then Sam Edelman comes out with these. They are retailed at $225.00. So OF COURSE I found them on sale at free people for $70.00. That's unheard of. I negotiated with myself and decided to sit on it for a day. I came to the conclusion that I would buy them, so i go to order them and they're out of stock. WDYM. These wedges are seriously perfect. They could go any way you asked them to. I'm getting them at some point, i don't how long i'm going to have to wait, but it will happen. I doubt they'll ever replace my zoe's though, because those boots are the best thing he's ever designed. FACT.

Oh and speaking of the zoe boot, he's coming out with a tan version for the spring. The price isn't listed yet, but theres a preview of them on LF. Take a peak.

Would it be excessive if I had them in every color?

No.

I mean, yeah.

Yeah it would.

claustrophobia and impracticality.

I'm looking for something. Something to share with all of you. It's a strange sort of hunt, this one that I'm on. As much as I love photography, and sharing the products of it with you, there's something lying in there that I haven't yet found, and it's result is suffocation. I need to play. Play with the camera, play with the image, and the end result: play with your mind.  This one is a start. Change of rotation, intense saturation, and some irrational cropping. Hopefully things will get a bit more uncomfortable for you. The intriguing kind of discomfort. The enjoyable kind. Open up the eyes.

LF stores has everything. That's not an exaggeration. These are some of my favorites off of their current look book. Enjoy.
