edith minturn sedgwick.

I have enough pictures of edie saved that i could blog on just her alone for the rest of my life. These are just a collection of my favorites. I look to her not as a role model but more as a lesson. If you aren't aware of her story, its worth reading. As in a book. Go to the Library and get a book. I often don't enjoy movies that recreate a true story, but Factory Girl did a pretty good job at recreating her whole world. So yes, you should watch it. Every last one of you.

So here she is. My personal favorite when it comes to fashion icons. Disgustingly dark eyebrows, heavy eye liner, the fake mole, huge earrings (and often just one), ballet tights, and short bleached hair. All her. Trademark. Oh the things i would go through to bring her back and just have 10 minutes with her. Or 1000. So many questions.

dashboard. pan up. rear view. pan down.

I decided to do an eensy little series on the little trinkets that hang from my rear view. Although the dream catcher is the focal point of most of these shots each pendant holds significance, mainly being where I got them. Typically I find rear view decoration to be tacky. But, i enjoy my little assemblage. It's my little collage of places. The wooden knot was purchased in Cancun when my family went over a year ago. Sort of reminds me of my grandparents and it will often drive my car in their direction when I see it.  The circular tribal pendant is also from Mexico, except it's from Ensenada. This one more reminds me of my youth, due to the fact that I purchased it around my first year of high school. More of the stress relieving trinket I suppose. Then we have the Jade necklace. IN LOVE with this thing. My dear sister got for me as a birthday present awhile back. I know it's from Africa but I’m not sure about which country. Reminder of the sister of course. Who is not just the sister, but the closest friend I've ever had. Finally the dream catcher. Favorite thing. I've thought seriously about wearing it as an earring but it's a little heavy. I found it in a van in Colorado, which is also where my brother lives. (In the state, not the van.) It reminds me of him, which I need seeing as I only get to see him twice a year. It also just looks fantastic, feels fantastic, and make me feel fantastic. Boom. So here it is. My little mobile. Like a sculptural photo album. In all different light, day, and color.

Concrete.

Z.CARAVAGGIO HEELS.

Although the intention was to spend my entire break in boston, plans as they always do, changed. 2 days in boston. 1 day in philly. Went to the delphia to visit my other half. Dying without her. Victoria Kaufman. Maztrocity. The trip was actually a disaster (in the best way). Got Robbed. Bye phone. Bye Cash. Got a ticket. GPS grew a mind of it's own. Worst. But all in all, worth it. Took some good photos in center city, insomnia cookied our faces off, and became best friends with a verizon rep. Or possibly enemies. He either really hated us or really loved us. I pick love. Trip resulted with a new black berry and a pair of extremely worn in heels. Which are shockingly comfortable for the fact that theyre decently cheap. Recommended to everyone. Cheap, comfortable, and easy to get a hold of. Definitely require care though. Not the most well made shoe out there.

Shoot with only the best people on Monday. Enjoyable time.

Outfit consisted of an Amish dress that I found at a thrift store and proceed to alter, calvin klein tights, sam edelman boots.

Teased hair = 1 1/2 hour shower & a broken brush. Worth it.

Photo credit to Hannah Kurtz. Her lense, my camera. Done.

It's Boston Baby.

Seth Darling, Why must you live ever so far from me.

Over break Alex, Anthony and I decided we needed to wear in my car and take a trip. Obviously chose to visit Seth in the loveliest city, Boston. Fabulous trip. We stumbled upon a Good Will that was literally a gold mine. Blew some major cash. I was so insanely close to buying this fur coat, until I realized that the lining was so shredded that I wasn't even able to put my arms in the sleeves without immense trouble. Still having dreams about it. Yeah, regret. That happens. Things that did make the trip back with me: vintage suede headband, vintage wide-brimmed hat, studded leather belt (currently finding it's use as a bracelet), cream knitted shaw/poncho (best combination out there), oversized sweater, and an authentic native american poncho (which I have been using as a scarf).
Table at Urban. I'm making one.

Also shopped Newbury Street. LF boston. WHAT DO YOU MEAN. This store shouldn't even be legal. It's wrong. Best selection of Jeffrey Campbell's. NEED the lita lace up. Can't decide if I wan't them in black, tan, or blue. This place needs to be in my closet. Just the store, as my closet.
Enamel: American Apparel, Jeans: Levi's, Heels: Sam Edelman.

Forever 21, Urban Outfitters, Lucky Brand, White Elephant Antiques.

Staying at Seth's in Allston was this summer all over again. Lucky Boy. He has the best set up. His place is marvelous. Loved the loft. And the vintage floral chairs. Also visiting with Danny and playing music in the living room and eating rice. For hours. He keeps telling me to live there, and maybe I just will.

On our way home we took an exit to grab some food and came across an amazing sculpture garden. Very modern. The work was great. Slight industrial feel. A literal playground for art majors. Ending this entry with my favorite image of the trip. Alex darling, rock those urban glasses.
